NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–Monroe University sophomore baseball player Jesus Nieves was named an NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American as the association announced on Wednesday afternoon. This is Nieves's first All-American honor in his career.Â
Nieves was the Mustangs' top performer at the plate in the 2025-26 season, tallying a team-leading batting average of .414, which was a career high. He also had a career-high two home runs and 27 RBIs on the year. From March 28-April 12, Nieves went on a 10-game hitting streak and tallied 24 hits during that stretch.
On March 28 against CCBC-Essex, Nieves tallied a season-high four hits, two RBIs, and three doubles in the game. Nieves finished his career at Monroe batting .395, with 92 games played, 100 runs scored, 124 hits, and 51 RBIs.
Nieves will play in the NAIA for the University of the Cumberlands next season.
