CUMBERLAND, Md.–The Monroe University baseball team (19-24 overall) split their doubleheader against Allegany College of Maryland (23-25 overall) by scores of 16-4 in favor of Monroe and 7-3 in favor of the Trojans.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)
·     The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 lead off a Nair Jamanika home run to left field.
·     The Trojans cut the Mustangs' lead to one in the bottom half of the inning as they hit a solo home run to center field, making the score 2-1 Mustangs.
·     In the bottom of the second inning, Allegany tied the game on a ground out which scored in a run, making the score 2-2.
·     Then in the top of the fifth inning, Jason Guzman knocked in a run on a solo home run to right field to put the Mustangs ahead 3-2.
·     In the bottom of the fifth inning, Allegany tacked on five runs, beginning with a run on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3-3.
·     Then an error by the shortstop scored in another run to give the Trojans a 4-3 lead.
·     An RBI single and a two-RBI double scored three more runs for the Trojans to give them the 7-3 victory.
Game 2
·     In the bottom of the first inning, the Trojans took a 2-0 lead on a sacrifice fly and a passed ball.
·     Then in the top of the third inning, the Mustangs got on the scoreboard on an RBI single by Marcus Mercado to cut the Trojan lead to 2-1.
·     In the bottom of the third inning, Allegany added two more runs on an RBI single and ground out to give them a 4-1 lead.
·     In the top of the fourth inning, the Mustangs tacked on 10 runs, starting with a Franklin Francisco RBI single to left field, which scored in a run to narrow the Trojan lead to 4-2.
·     A bases load walk followed by an RBI single by Jesus Nieves tied the game at 4-4.
·     After three-straight hit-by-pitches scored three more runs, Juan Garcia ripped a three-RBI double to give the Mustangs a 10-4 lead.
·     Francisco capped the inning with an RBI double to give the Mustangs an 11-4 lead.
·     The Mustangs added five more runs in the top of the seventh inning off a pair of RBI doubles, a ground out and a sacrifice fly to result in the 16-4 victory.
STATS AND NOTES
·     The Mustangs lead the all-time series 5-1.
·     Brayden Mega picked up the win in game two for the Mustangs, going five innings, allowing no runs on two hits, and striking out five batters.
·     Jamanika tallied his fourth home run of the year while Guzman recorded his third.
·     Garcia's three doubles and four hits in game two were season highs.

·     The Mustangs return to action on Tuesday, April 28, when they travel to face Delaware Technical Community College in a doubleheader to close out the regular season. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m.
