NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–The No. 1 seeded Monroe University women's basketball team begins its 2026 NJCAA tournament title run on Sunday, March 8 at 12:00 p.m. in the NJCAA Region 20 championship game in Bel Air, Maryland.
HOW WE GOT HERE
·     Monroe went 22-6 on the season while currently still on a 16-game win streak.
·     With being the #1 seed in the NJCAA Region 20 tournament, the Mustangs will face the winner of Saturday's semifinal between Baltimore City CC and Harford CC.
·     With a win on Sunday, the Mustangs will advance to their fifth NJCAA Division 1 National Tournament.
JEFFERSON JAMMING
·     Sophomore Bre Jefferson has been the Mustang's top scorer during the regular season, which included a program-record 50-point performance at Lackawanna CC on February 19.
·     For her outstanding play during the month of February, she was named NJCAA Region 15 Division I NJCAA Athlete of the Month.
·     Through the regular season, Jefferson sat second on the team in points (279), averaging a team-leading 18.6 points per game while tallying 64 assists.Â
·     She also reached the 1,000 career points mark through the last 48 games she played.Â
ON THE HUNT FOR THREE REGIONAL TITLES
·     Heading into this weekend's Region 20 tournament, the women's basketball team will aim at claiming their third NJCAA regional tournament title.
·     The last time they won a regional came in 2024 when they defeated Harcum in double-overtime.
DE LOS SANTOS ON THE BOARDS
·     Hellary De Los Santos has been the top rebounder for the Mustangs during the regular season.
·     She sits among the top 10 players in NJCAA Division 1 in rebounds per game at 11.8, while she sits in the top 20 in points per game, averaging 18.6 a game.
