Seney Named 2026 NJCAA Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–Monroe University women's basketball head coach Mike Seney was awarded the NJCAA Mid-Atlantic District Coach of the Year on Thursday night.

Seney made his mark in his first season as head coach with the Mustangs, leading them to an NJCAA National Tournament appearance, an NJCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional title, and a 23-7 overall record.

Monroe flashed impressive offensive numbers under Seney in 2025-26, averaging 84.9 points per game, which featured six games in which they tallied over 100 points, including a 118-point performance versus Baltimore City CC on December 6, 2025.

He also led the Mustangs on a 17-game winning streak until the NJCAA National Tournament. Prior to the loss to No. 12 Three Rivers in the NJCAA tournament, the Mustangs' last loss came on December 4, 2025, when they fell to No. 7 Union College.

Seney also guided the Mustangs to their first win over a top-10 NJCAA Division I school in No. 7 South Plains with a 71-67 victory on November 3, 2025.

Over his 11-year basketball coaching career, Seney has compiled an impressive 319-37 record with his time at Harford CC, CCBC-Essex and now Monroe.
