LAKE CHARLES, LA.–The Monroe University women's basketball team (26-9 overall) fell to No. 12 Three Rivers (27-5 overall) 87-61 in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament first round on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Mustangs were held to just 28 points in the first two quarters.
·     Bre Jefferson led the Mustangs in points in the opening quarters with seven, which featured five coming in the first quarter.
·     The Mustangs forced two steals in the first two quarters.
·     In the third and fourth quarters, Jefferson led the Mustangs with 10 points.
·     The Mustangs upped their scoring in the third and fourth quarters, scoring 21 in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth quarter.
·     But Three Rivers tallied at least 20 points in three of the four quarters, resulting in the Lady Raiders winning 87-61.
STATS AND NOTES
·     The Lady Raiders lead the all-time series 1-0.
·     The Mustangs are now 0-5 in the NJCAA Tournament.
·     Jefferson led the Mustangs with 17 points on the day going 7-18 from the field and 1-5 from three-point distance.
·     It's her 15th game recording double-digit points this season in the 17 games she's played.
·     Fabiana Poindujour and Hellary De Los Santos each contributed double-digit points with 14 and 10.
·     The Mustangs end their 2025-26 season with a 26-9 record, which is seventh all-time in program history.
