NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The No. 21 Monroe University women's basketball team (23-6 overall) begins its 2026 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball tournament run on Wednesday, March 25 against No. 12 Three Rivers CC (26-5 overall) at 2:30 PM CT. The game will be played on ESPN+.
HISTORY
·     Monroe is facing Three Rivers for the first time in program history.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
·     The Raiders enter the tournament with a 26-5 overall record.
·     They are coming off an upset win in the Region XVI Championship game against State Fair by a score of 74-62.
·     Leading their offense is Samyah Jordan, who tallies 13.0 points per game and has a 46.4% field goal percentage.
·     As a team, they average 70.4 points per game and hold opponents to 67.4 points per game.
MID-ATLANTIC DISTRICT CHAMPIONS
·     For the second straight year, the Mustangs became NJCAA Mid-Atlantic District champions following their 85-69 win against Harford College.
·     It's the third all-time District Championship for the women's basketball program.
STRAIGHT UP WINNING
·     Heading into the NJCAA National Tournament, the Mustangs currently are on a 17-game win-streak.
·     The Mustangs this season haven't lost a game since December 4, 2025, when they fell to No. 7 Union College.
DE LOS SANTOS AND JEFFERSON ON TOP
·     Hellary De Los Santos and Bre Jefferson sit among the top 50 NJCAA men's basketball players in the nation in points per game.Â
·     Jefferson sits at number 26 as she averages 18.1 points per game. Â
·     In the 16 games she played this season, Jefferson tallied five games in which she scored over 20 points per game. Â
·     She had only two games during the regular season in which he didn't score double-digit points.
·     De Los Santos has been the Mustangs' second-top point scorer as she averages 13.0 points per game.Â
·     She's scored double-digit points in 21 of the 28 games she's played this season.Â
·     She's also recorded 16 double-doubles this season.
