NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–The Monroe University women's basketball team (22-6 overall) concluded the 2025-26 regular season on a high note with an 83-54 victory over Harford (19-8 overall) on Thursday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

·      The Mustangs began the game scoring 22 points in the first quarter, with Bre Jefferson and Hellary De Los Santos each tallying six points.

·      The Monroe defense held Harford to only 12 points in the first quarter while allowing zero three-point shots.

·      In the second quarter, the Mustangs tallied another 22 points, as Alex Stewart led the way for the Mustangs, recording eight points which included a pair of three-pointers.

·      The Mustangs' defense continued to dominate in the second quarter, allowing just 12 more points to Harford and only one three-pointer.

·      The Mustangs drilled four three-pointers in the second quarter, which aided in the Mustangs' 44-24 lead at the half.

·      Six points by Bre Jefferson led the Mustangs in the third quarter, with Sydney Husky and Adela Cecunjanin each registering four points, which helped give the Mustangs a 64-40 lead heading into the last quarter.

·      The Mustangs continued to control the ballgame in the fourth quarter with Jefferson tallying seven points as she went 2-5 from the field and 1-2 from three-point distance aiding the Mustangs in tallying 19 points while holding Harford to just 14 in the quarter resulting in the eventual 83-54 victory.

STATS AND NOTES

·      Monroe concludes the 2025-26 regular season with a 22-6 record and is currently on a 16-game win-streak.

·      The Mustangs currently lead the all-time series with Harford 12-9 and have won their last 10 games against the Owls.

·      Hellary De Los Santos tallied her 14th double-double of the season, tallying 10 points and 16 rebounds.

·      Jefferson tallied her fifth 20 point-plus game, recording 23 on the day.

·      Three Mustangs tallied double-digit points on the day: Jefferson (23), Stewart (16), and De Los Santos (10).

UP NEXT

·      The Mustangs travel to Bel Air, Maryland, to compete in the NJCAA East District Championship Tournament beginning on Friday, March 6. Game-time is TBD.

There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
