New York, NY - The Monroe University Men's Indoor Track and Field team competed at the Dr. Sander Invitational this weekend, with multiple athletes recording personal-best performances.
After an impressive season debut at the Ramapo Invitational last week, Sophomore Douglas Lee ran a personal-best time of 7.33 in the 60m dash. Lee also recorded a personal-best time of 24.70 in the 200m dash.
Sophomores Micah McHardy and Christian Gabriel also competed in both the 60m and 200m events. McHardy recorded a personal-best time of 7.72 in the 60m and ran a season-best time of 25.13 in the 200m. Gabriel ran a time of 7.23 in the 60m and 22.95 in the 200m.
Freshman Emilio Blanco ran his first 200m of the season and clocked a time of 22.97. Sophomore Elijah Upsher ran a time of 7.66 in the 60m and made his debut in the long jump, recording a distance of 5.84 meters.
Middle-distance runners freshmen Yassine Rahoui and Jazir Harris ran their first 800m races of the season. Rahoui ran a time of 1:57.53, while Harris finished in 2:18.07. Freshman Jaheim Lawrence ran his first 400m of the season in a time of 50.84, and Rahoui also competed in the open 400m, finishing in 52.96.
The Mustangs will have a short week ahead as they travel to Boston to compete in the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
