Women's Basketball Set To Take On #9-Seed South Plains In NJCAA Tournament

Casper, WY – The Monroe University women's basketball team earned the #24-seed in the 2025 NJCAA National Tournament, setting up a first-round matchup against #9-seed South Plains College on Wednesday, March 26, at 12:00 PM ET. The game can be streamed on ESPN+

This is Monroe's sixth consecutive NJCAA Tournament berth. At 25-4, the Mustangs will enter the tourney field as the lowest overall seed as they look to do battle with the Texans. The winner of the contest will take on #8-seed Shelton State Community College on March 28.

South Plains, who earned an at-large bid after losing to McLennan Community College in the Region V Tournament, enters the NJCAA tournament at 25-4. The Texans began the season with a loss to Cochise College before rattling off 14 straight victories through the new year.

Despite shooting just 27.3% from deep this season, the Texans average 71.3 points per contest. The team corrals 48.6 rebounds per game and have thrived on neutral courts, going a perfect 6-0. Benefitting the steal-happy Mustangs, South Plains commits 15.8 turnovers per game.

South Plains doesn't have a single player averaging above ten points per game. However, with frequent substitutes (ten players average above ten minutes per game), seven players average above five points per game, making up a formidable rotation.
