WHAT'S AT STAKE?:
The winner of the 2019 Eastern District Championship will advance to the 2019 Alpine Bank Junior College World Series, hosted at Sam Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colo.

FAMILIAR FOE:
Among the four-team field, Harford is the only team that the Mustangs played during the 2019 season. Harford claimed a 2-1 series victory on its home field, picking up an extra-inning win in the series opener before splitting the doubleheader the next day. The Fighting Owls finished the year 28-1 overall at home, meaning the Mustangs handed Harford its only home defeat this season.

LAST YEAR:
Monroe and Harford are the only two teams in this year's field that participated in the 2018 Eastern District Championship, which was hosted by Monroe at Dutchess Stadium in Wappingers Falls, N.Y. The Mustangs and Fighting Owls faced off in the first round, seeing the Mustangs win, 7-5, to advance into the winner's bracket. Harford then took on ASA College in the weekend's first elimination game, falling, 9-5.

The Mustangs went on to defeat USC Sumter and become the first team to advance to the Championship round of the tournament. ASA then took down USC Sumter as well, making for an all-Region XV Championship. The Mustangs defeated ASA, 8-1, to win their first-ever Eastern District Championship.
