WEST NYACK, N.Y. – The Monroe University baseball team (12-17 overall) downed Rockland Community College 10-5 on Monday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Mustangs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the third inning off a pair of RBI doubles by Matthew DeFisher and Isiah Gibbs and an RBI single by Nair Jamanika.
·     Then in the top of the fourth inning, Jamanika ripped an RBI double to center field to give the Mustangs a 6-0 lead.
·     In the top of the fifth inning, Jason Guzman launched a two-run homer to right field to put the Mustangs ahead 8-0.
·     An RBI groundout by Jamanika in the top of the sixth inning put the Mustangs ahead 9-0.
·     Rockland CC would counter with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning off three RBI singles, an RBI walk, and a fielder's choice to narrow the Mustangs' lead to 9-5.
·     The Mustangs sealed the victory with an RBI double by Jesus Nieves in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Mustangs the 10-5 victory.
STATS AND NOTES
·     The Mustangs lead the all-time series 18-7.
·     Ricardo Feliz had an impressive outing as he started on the mound, going five innings, allowing zero earned runs, while striking out nine batters to earn his victory.
·     Nieves had a strong outing in the batter's box, going 3-4 with one RBI on the day. He also had three doubles on the day,
·     Jamanika also had an outstanding day going 2-3 at the dish tallying four RBI's which included one double.

·     The Mustangs return to action on Thursday, April 9, when they travel to face Camden County College. Game-time is set for 3:00 p.m.
