KEYSER, WV. – The Monroe University baseball team (18-23 overall) fell in the last game of their series at WVU Potomac State (30-12 overall) by a score of 6-5 on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Catamounts opened the game scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning off an RBI ground out and single to take a 2-0 lead.
·     Then in the top of the third inning, Juan Garcia doubled, scoring a run to cut the Catamount lead to 2-1.
·     In the top of the fourth inning, Jesus Nieves knocked in a run on an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2.
·     Then in the bottom of the fifth inning, an RBI double by the Catamounts put them back in the lead 3-2.
·     In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Catamounts added two more runs off an RBI double to give them a 5-2 lead.
·     In the top of the eighth inning, they added one more run to give them a 6-2 lead.
·     The Mustangs attempted a comeback in the top of the ninth inning as Johadimir Marmolejos–Cruz ripped an RBI single scoring in a run to cut the Catamounts' lead to 6-3.
·     Then in the same inning, Alejandro Bernard launched an RBI double, scoring in two runs to result in the 6-5 loss.
STATS AND NOTES
·     The Catamounts lead the all-time series 20-17.
·     Bernard led the offense, going 1 - for - 5 with two RBIs.
·     Ronald Pena took the loss on the mound, going 5.2 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out four batters.

·     The Mustangs return to action on Monday, April 27, when they travel to face Allegany College of Maryland. Game-time is set for 12:00 p.m.
