SUFFERN, N.Y. – The Monroe University baseball team (18-20 overall) downed Rockland CC 10-1 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Mustangs opened the scoring in the top of the first inning off an RBI single by Nair Jamanika to put the Mustangs ahead 1-0.
·     Rockland countered in the bottom of the inning off a wild pitch to even the game at 1-1.
·     Then in the top of the fourth inning, Franklin Francisco knocked an RBI single to second base, which scored in a run to put the Mustangs back in the lead 2-1.
·     The Mustangs continued scoring in the top of the fifth inning off a dropped third strike passed ball, which scored in a run to give the Mustangs a 3-1 lead.
·     In the top of the sixth inning, Francisco launched a solo home run to right field, giving the Mustangs a 4-1 lead.
·     The Mustangs then tacked on six runs in the top of the eighth inning, beginning with an RBI double by Jesus Nieves to put the Mustangs ahead 5-1.
·     Jamanika then ripped an RBI triple to right field, scoring in a run, giving the Mustangs a 6-1 lead.
·     A fly out and ground out later would give the Mustangs a comfortable 8-1 lead before Jason Guzman knocked in a two-RBI single to right field, giving the Mustangs the 10-1 victory.
STATS AND NOTES
·     Monroe leads the all-time series 19-7 with the win.
·     Francisco tallied his fourth home run of the season while he went 3-4 at the dish.
·     Ricardo Feliz picked up the victory on the pitcher's mound, going two innings, allowing no runs and striking out two batters. His record moved to 3-1 for the year.

·     The Mustangs return to action on Friday, April 24, when they begin a four-game series at WVU Potomac State College. Game-time is set for 1:00 p.m.
