NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Monroe University baseball team (15-18 overall) fell to Lackawanna (16-19-1 overall) 8-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     After a scoreless first inning, Lackawanna tacked on four runs in the top of the second inning coming off two bases loaded hit by pitches, an RBI single, and a sacrifice fly to right field, giving the Falcons a 4-0 lead.
·     The Mustangs didn't respond until the bottom of the fourth inning when Jason Guzman singled to center field, scoring a run to narrow the Falcons' lead to 4-1.
·     In the top of the sixth inning, Lackawanna answered back with a sacrifice fly out, scoring a run from third base to give them a 5-1 lead.
·     Then in the bottom of the seventh inning, Marcus Mercado reached first on an error, which scored a run to cut the Lackawanna lead to 5-2.
·     Later in the same inning, Justin Parson scored from third on a wild pitch to cut the Falcons' lead to 5-3.
·     In the top of the eighth inning, Lackawanna tallied two more runs off an error at first base and an RBI single to second base, resulting in an 8-3 victory for the Falcons.
STATS AND NOTES
·     The Mustangs hang onto control of the all-time series 22-21.
·     Jason Guzman led the offense for the Mustangs, going 2-4 with one RBI at the dish. It's his sixth multi-hit game of the season.
·     On the mound, Brayden Mega led the way for the Mustangs, going six innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out four batters. It was the most strikeouts and innings pitched he has had this season.

·     The Mustangs return to action on Friday, April 17, when they host Harford CC for a doubleheader. The first game begins at 1:00 p.m.
