NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–The Monroe University men's volleyball team (10-7 overall) defeated Passaic County Community College 3-1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-21, 25-22) on Monday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Mustangs tallied nine kills in the first set while holding Passaic County to just six.
·     One four-point run in the first set helped give the Mustangs a six-point edge, leading to the 25-18 victory.
·     In the second set, the Mustangs recorded 13 kills while holding the Panthers to just eight.
·     In the set, the Mustangs came back to take a 22-21 lead, scoring eight straight points, but Passaic would come back and win the set in extra points.
·     In the third set, the Mustangs fired 14 kills while limiting Passaic to just nine.
·     The Mustangs came back from being down 5-7 to winning the set overall.
·     In the fourth set, Monroe held Passaic to just seven kills while the Mustangs tallied 13.
·     The Mustangs scored the final four points in a row to win the set 25-22 and the match.
STATS AND NOTES
·     Monroe leads the all-time series 3-0.
·     Yensy Rodriguez led the Mustangs with 23 kills on the day.
·     It's the fifth time this season Rodriguez has tallied double-digit kills.
·     Hudson Irving tallied his third straight game with 20+ assists.
