NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–The Monroe University baseball team (4-13 overall) downed Queensborough CC (0-0 overall) 27-0 in the teams' home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Mustangs tallied 19 runs in the bottom of the first inning, beginning with a pair of RBI singles by Nair Jamanika and Justin Parsons to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead.
·     Shortly after, Ryan Marchina launched a two-RBI double to right field to put the Mustangs ahead 4-0.
·     After an RBI single by Tai Vic Tromp, Alejandro Bernard launched a two-RBI triple to increase the Mustangs' lead to 7-0.
·     Bernard later scored off a wild pitch to increase their lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
·     Following the Mustangs adding two more runs off a single and a bases-loaded walk, Parson ripped a two-RBI double to left field, putting the Mustangs ahead 12-0.
·     The Mustangs would add seven more runs, which included a pair of RBI singles from Bernard and Juan Garcia.
·     In the bottom of the third inning, Franklin Francisco ripped an RBI double to right field, putting the Mustangs ahead 20-0.
·     Monroe added three more runs off a pair of RBI walks and a fly out by Marcus Mercado to up the Mustangs' lead to 23-0.
·     In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Mustangs sealed the victory with four more runs off a two-RBI double and a single to take the 27-0 victory.
STATS AND NOTES
·     With today's win, Monroe closes in on the series history as Queensborough leads the all-time series 5-4. The Mustangs have won their last five games against the Tigers.
·     Bernard tallied a game-high six RBIs in today's win.
·     Victor Ceballos-Polanco started for the Mustangs, going two innings, striking out five batters, and allowing just one hit. His five strikeouts were the most he's had in an outing this season.
·     Parsons also tallied a game-high five RBIs, going 3-4 on the day.
