BROOKLYN, N.Y.– The Monroe University men's volleyball team (6-5 overall) split its double-dual at Kingsbourgh Community College Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs defeated the Monroe-Bronx in five sets (17-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 15-10) before falling to Nassau Community College in three sets (19-5, 22-25, 24-25).
HOW IT HAPPENED (Match 1)
- The first four sets went back-and-forth before the Mustangs cruised to victory in the decisive fifth set. It was an offensive-powered ending as the two sides combined for 26 kills, while the Mustangs played strong defense to claim the win.
- Yensy Rodriguez paced the Mustangs in match one with 20 kills.
Match 2
- In match two against Nassau, the Mustangs looked to close out the tournament with a sweep. But after closing out the Express in five sets, the Mustangs dropped the second match against Nassau in straight sets.
- Rodriguez led the Mustangs in kills in game two with six while three other Mustangs, Irving Hudson, Ndukanma Chijaku, and Eric Martinez each tallied three. The Mustangs in total 18 kills in the match while Nassau tallied 34.

- The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, March 7 when they host Brookdale Community College. Game-time is set for 11:00am.
