Scranton, PA – It was a milestone night for Monroe University, as Head Coach Jeff Brustad secured his 600th career victory in commanding fashion with a 101–59 road win over Lackawanna College on Thursday evening.
The Mustangs left no doubt from the opening half, building a 54-25 advantage at the break behind hot perimeter shooting and relentless defensive pressure.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a brief early deficit, Monroe quickly took control. A three from Qingfang Pang ignited the offense, and Nico Pena followed with back-to-back buckets to swing momentum permanently in the Mustangs' favor.
Naceiar Kirksey caught fire from beyond the arc in the first half, knocking down multiple triples as Monroe stretched its lead into double digits. The Mustangs forced turnovers and converted them into quick points, while Nick Williams attacked inside to keep the pressure on.
A late three from Jago Robinson helped cap a dominant opening 20 minutes, sending Monroe into halftime with a 29-point cushion.
The second half was more of the same.
Kirksey continued his strong night from deep, Robinson provided instant offense off the bench, and Monroe's ball movement consistently created clean looks. The Mustangs pushed the lead past 30 early in the period and eventually extended it to as many as 42.
