NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.–The No. 17 Monroe University men's basketball team (24-4 overall) downed Harcum College (17-7 overall) 76-58 for their 17th straight victory on Saturday afternoon as the Mustangs honored their six sophomores on Sophomore Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

·      The Mustangs took command in the first half, scoring 38 points while holding Harcum to just 22.

·      Faquir Mosley led the Mustangs in points in the first half with six, going 2-4 from the field and tallying three rebounds

·      The Mustangs defense held Harcum to going just 9-28 from the field and just 2-14 from three-point distance.

·      In the second half, both sides scored over 30 points, with Monroe scoring 38 and Harcum scoring 36.

·      Nico Pena led the scoring for the Mustangs in the second half, going 3-7 from the field and scoring 10 points.

·      The Monroe defense held Harcum to allowing just two three-pointers and forced eight turnovers, which aided in the Mustangs' victory.

STATS AND NOTES

·      The Mustangs now lead the all-time series against Harcum 23-19.

·      The Mustangs have won the last five games against the Bears.

·      Pena tallied his 16th 10-point plus game this season.

·      There were 35 personal fouls in the game.

·      Monroe has now won its last 17 straight games.

·      The Mustangs honored their six sophomores prior to the game, which featured Naceiar Kirksey, Faquir Mosley, Jago Robinson, Riley Dunn, Qingfang Pang, and Nick Williams.

·      The Mustangs conclude the regular season on Thursday, February 26, when they host Harford College. Game-time is set for 7:00 p.m.
