NORTH EAST, Md. - The Monroe University women's basketball team (17-6 overall) defeated Cecil College (9-9 overall) 109-43 on Wednesday night. This is the fifth time this season the Mustangs have tallied double-digit points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
·     The Mustangs started off the first quarter on fire, taking a 20-5 lead with 3:54 remaining in the quarter.
·     In the first quarter alone, the Mustangs tallied seven three-pointers, with three coming from Adela Cecunjanin and Fabiana Poindujour, respectively.
·     The Mustangs' defense held Cecil to only eight points in the first quarter and allowed one three-pointer.
·     In the second quarter, the Mustangs put up 31 points and shot 52% from the field, going 13-25.
·    Skylah Kemp led the way, scoring eight points in the quarter to give the Mustangs a 61-21 lead at the half.
·     In the third quarter, four Mustangs tallied five points each as the team scored 29 points in the quarter while holding Cecil to 12 to give the Mustangs an 80-33 lead heading into the last quarter.
·     Alex Staurt took over in the fourth quarter for the Mustangs, scoring six points going 3-4 from the field to push the Mustangs to a 109-43 victory.
STATS AND NOTES
·     Monroe now leads the all-time series against Cecil College 6-3.
·     This is the first time in program history the Mustangs have scored over 100 points in a game against Cecil.
·     43 points is the lowest number of points the Mustangs have given up against Cecil since December 29, 2019, when they allowed Cecil to score 41.
·     Cecunjanin led the way in points for the Mustangs, scoring 15 on the day and going 5-11 from the field. This was her sixth double-digit showing this season.
·     13 field goal attempts from Skylah Kemp were the most she's had this season.
·     Six Mustangs scored in double-digit points.
·     Hellary De Los Santos tallied her 13th double-double of the season registering 12 points and 10 rebounds.

·     The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, February 14, when they travel to face Baltimore City Community College. Game-time is set for noon. Â
