New Rochelle, NY - Jeff Brustad's squad delivered a strong second-half performance to secure an 82–59 victory over SUNY Niagara on Saturday night, improving to 15–4 on the season.
The Mustangs used efficiency and defensive pressure to create separation after halftime, turning a competitive opening half into a decisive win. Monroe shot over 50 percent from the field in the second half while limiting Niagara's scoring opportunities and controlling the tempo on both ends of the floor.
Monroe found consistent success attacking the paint and capitalizing in transition, steadily building the lead as the half progressed. The Mustangs' ball movement led to quality looks, while their defensive discipline forced Niagara into contested shots and late-clock possessions.
Niagara struggled to keep pace offensively in the second half as Monroe continued to extend the margin, finishing the night with balanced scoring and strong rebounding presence. The Mustangs closed the game with composure, maintaining intensity through the final minutes to secure the 23-point win.
Naceiar Kirksey led the way with 14 points while adding four assists and two steals, setting the tone offensively and defensively. Tavien Tyler provided a spark off the bench with 13 points on efficient shooting, knocking down a pair of three-pointers during a key second-half stretch.
Faquir Mosley and Fernando De Los Santos each added 10 points, combining to give Monroe strong production off the bench. Nico Peña chipped in nine points, while Nick Williams and Bryce Wejuli contributed across the stat sheet as the Mustangs showcased their depth.
Monroe returns to action tomorrow night when they face Monroe Community College to open up the MLK Classic.
