New Rochelle, NY – Monroe University used an efficient first half and balanced scoring to earn an 85–71 win over Monroe Community College to close out the MLK Classic on Sunday night.

Nico Peña added 13 points on three made triples, while Faquir Mosley chipped in 12 points, four assists, and three steals. Naceiar Kirksey contributed 11 points and seven assists, helping Monroe maintain control as the game progressed.
Monroe Community College shot better in the second half and attempted to cut into the margin, but the Mustangs answered with timely baskets and steady free-throw shooting down the stretch. Monroe finished the game shooting 48.3 percent from the field and forced 15 turnovers, converting them into 23 points.
The win moves Monroe University to 16-4 on the season. Monroe now turns its attention to an upcoming road stretch, beginning with a midweek trip to Essex County College before continuing through Harcum College and Harford Community College.
