New Rochelle, NY - Monroe University delivered one of its most complete efforts of the season Friday afternoon, defeating Rockland Community College 84–71 at the MAC to improve to 12-4 on the year.
The Mustangs established control early behind efficient offense and disciplined execution, shooting 54 percent from the field in the first half to take a 48–35 lead into the break. Monroe consistently generated high-quality looks while limiting Rockland's second-chance opportunities, creating separation that carried through the remainder of the contest.
Qingfang Pang paced all scorers with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting and added six rebounds while anchoring Monroe's interior presence. Nick Williams followed with 15 points and eight rebounds, providing physicality on the glass and timely scoring. Nico Peña added 14 points and connected on multiple three-point attempts while Riley Dunn contributed eight points and five rebounds to round out a balanced Mustang attack.
Monroe maintained its composure in the second half, matching Rockland's output and extending the lead to as many as 23. The Mustangs finished the game shooting 47.3 percent from the field and held a commanding 45-20 advantage on the boards, including 17 offensive rebounds that led to extra scoring chances.
Rockland was led by Amari McCammon's 16 points and Jerell Taylor's 14 but Monroe's depth and control of the paint proved decisive down the stretch.
The Mustangs will look to build on Friday's performance as they turn their heads to Westchester Community College who they face tomorrow night.
