Monroe Powers Past Westchester, 90-66

New Rochelle, NY- Monroe put together a complete performance on Sunday night, rolling past Westchester Community College 90-66 at the MAC.

The Mustangs set the tone early with pressure on the perimeter and a steady diet of paint touches, carrying a 44-30 lead into halftime and never letting the momentum swing back. Monroe finished with 42 points in the paint, forced 13 turnovers, and stacked up nine steals and nine blocks.

Nico Pena led the way with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, adding two steals as Monroe continued to stretch the margin in the second half. Tavien Tyler chipped in 16 points and six assists, while Naceiar Kirksey filled the stat sheet with 12 points, five assists, and three steals. Fernando De Los Santos added 13 points and nine rebounds, and Riley Dunn controlled the glass with 14 rebounds and five blocks.

Monroe's depth showed up all night, getting 39 points off the bench and turning stops into efficient offense to build its largest lead at 26 late in the second half.

Westchester was paced by Fari Joseph with 18 points on six made three-pointers. Tarik Dacosta posted 11 rebounds, and Tiziah Spears finished with 11 points, but the Vikings shot 32.4 percent from the field as Monroe's defense tightened the screws.
