Eunice, LA – The Monroe University baseball team fell to LSU-Eunice, 14-4, in eight innings on Friday night. The Mustangs once again showed promise at the plate, but couldn't limit baserunners on the evening.
Five different players recorded hits on the day, with freshman
Tai Vic Tromp collecting his second multi-hit effort of the season. Despite the solid effort from Tromp, the Mustangs left nine runners on base in the losing effort.
Freshman
Juan Garcia launched an opposite field grand slam for Monroe's first home run of the season in the seventh inning. But the Bengals, leading 11-4, pieced together more runs in the seventh and eighth to ignite the run rule.
Monroe falls to 0-3 on the season and will square off once again with the Bengals on Saturday in a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 pm ET, with game two scheduled for 5:00 pm ET.
