Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

All-Around Effort Leads Men's Basketball Past Harford, 90-48

New Rochelle, NY – By heavily controlling the rebound totals, the Monroe University men's basketball bounced back from a three-game skid to rout Harford Community College, 90-48, on Monday evening.

The Mustangs snagged 56 rebounds to Harford's 32, including 17-to-10 in the offensive rebound category. Three players recorded double-digit boards — Hassan Washington (13), freshman Riley Dunn (10), freshman David Emetu (11) — in the winning effort.

With ample opportunities, the Mustangs spread the ball around tremendously with every player scoring in the contest. Sophomore Devere Palmer Jr. recorded a team-high 17 points in his second game back, while Dunn joined Palmer Jr. in double figures with ten.

The all-around team effort was on full display from the get-go as Monroe took a 52-25 lead into the halftime intermission. Freshman Eric Mejia scored nine first half points, while sophomore Jordan Sanders chipped in eight.

The second half was much of the same as Monroe outscored Harford, 38-23.

Ten different Mustangs scored in the second half, with Palmer Jr. and Dunn leading the way with seven a piece. Overall, Monroe shot 45.2% from the floor as opposed to Harford's 19.7% mark, which included just 13 made field goals, with nine of those makes being from beyond the arc.

The Mustangs controlled the inside, as evidenced by the rebound margin. They led the whole game as looked the part in a comfortable win.

Monroe will next head to Bryn Mawr, PA, for a massive rematch against Harcum College on Saturday, February 15, at 2:00 pm. The last time these two met on January 25, Harcum cruised to a 86-69 win. Monroe will be seeking revenge against their longtime rival.
