Mustangs Rally Past Allegany

Hagerstown, MD. - The Monroe Mustangs closed out the month on a high note Sunday afternoon, storming back in the second half to knock off Allegany College of Maryland, 91-82, on the road.

The Mustangs trailed 45-43 at halftime, but a poised and balanced offensive attack took control after the break. Monroe poured in 48 second-half points, shooting over 54 percent from the floor while tightening up defensively to flip the game in their favor.

Sophomore guard Naceiar Kirksey paced Monroe with a game-high 23 points, knocking down five threes and repeatedly creating separation when the Mustangs needed a bucket most. He also added seven assists and six rebounds in a standout all-around performance.

Nick Williams and Nico Peña each posted big double-doubles inside, combining for 23 rebounds. Williams finished with 13 points and 10 boards, while Peña contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds, including several clutch defensive plays down the stretch.

Bench production again proved decisive for Monroe. Nehemiah McMorris was electric with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, and both Faquir Mosley and Tavien Tyler added 10 points apiece.

Monroe also held a dominant 40-24 advantage on the glass and turned Allegany miscues into 20 points, helping erase the early deficit and maintain the lead late. The Mustangs pushed the margin to as many as 15 in the closing minutes to secure the road win.

The victory wraps up a strong weekend trip for Monroe as the Mustangs continue to build momentum heading into a challenging December slate.

Up next, Monroe returns will host Baltimore City Community College before kicking off the 2025 Monroe University Invitational.
