New Rochelle, NY - Coach Brustad's squad put together another dominant performance Saturday afternoon, overpowering Baltimore City Community College, 88-59, at the MAC to improve to 7-3 on the year.
The Mustangs controlled the game from the opening tip, racing out to a 13-1 lead behind a barrage of early three-pointers. Monroe shot a crisp 48% in the first half and knocked down six triples, building a 42-24 cushion by the break.
After halftime, the Mustangs only extended the margin, leading by as many as 40 points while continuing to share the ball and lock in defensively. Monroe finished with 10 steals, forced 16 turnovers, and outrebounded the Panthers 48-30.
Nico Pena was nearly flawless, scoring 16 points on a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 4-for-4 from three, while also adding four assists. Nick Williams poured in 13 points and pulled down six rebounds. Monroe's balanced attack featured five additional players with seven or more points, including Riley Dunn with nine points and six boards, and Kylian't Hart with seven points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Monroe will have a couple days off before they welcome in #6 ranked Daytona State College.
