HUTCHINSON, Kan., May 21, 2022 – The Monroe College Mustangs men's track and field team wrapped things up at the 2022 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships with two final events at Hutchinson Community College's Gowans Stadium on Saturday.
Monroe's
Mohlouwa Koos Molutsi and
Karim Belmahdi both ran in the 1,500-meter run to open the day. Molutsi finished the race in 4:01.87 to take ninth place overall, while Belmahdi ran a time of 4:07.50 to take 12th place in the finals.
Molutsi then closed out the weekend by running in the 5,000-meter run at the end of the day on Saturday. He clocked in at 15:36.11 to take 25th place overall in the event.
The NJCAA Outdoor Championships marked the end of the 2022 outdoor season. The Mustangs track and field and cross country program made a return to full competition in 2021-22 after missing the 2020 cross country season and the 2021 indoor track and field season. Monroe will look to build on this year's success when the program gets back to work in the fall 2022 season.
