BALTIMORE, Md. - The Monroe University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Morgan State Legacy this weekend to mark the halfway point of the season.
Shaquane Toussaint continued his historic outdoor season. The first-year native of Grenada ran a time of 20.71 in the 200m. Toussaint's time placed him first overall in the event and shattered the previous school record, which he set just two weeks ago. His performance also improved his rankings for the outdoor championships in New Mexico and marked an outdoor career best for him. His time in the event is also the fastest time ever run in the program's history. Toussaint continued his monumental day when he clocked a career-best time of 10.36 in the 100m, which qualifies him for the National Championships as well.

Sophomore Cleon Joseph had a tremendous day at the track as well. He participated in the 400m and placed third overall with a personal best time of 47.76, which also qualified him for the National Championships in May . Joseph later returned to join Toussaint in the 200m. Joseph placed eighth overall with a personal best time of 21.47 in the event as well.
Sophomore Christian Gabriel made his debut in the 400M; he ran a time of 52.81, and freshman Jazir Harris ran a season-best time of 56.49 in the event as well.
Two Mustangs competed in the 100m. Freshman Emilio Bishop ran a time of 11.08, and sophomore Douglas Lee ran a time of 11.42. Two Mustangs joined Joseph in the 200m. Lee ran a personal-best time of 22.81, and freshman Keba Cisse ran a season-best time of 24.12.
Two Mustangs competed in the long jump. Freshman Keba Cisse jumped a personal best distance of 6.01 meters. Sophomore Elijah Upsher jumped a distance of 5.99 meters in the long jump. Two Mustangs competed in the 1500m. Sophomore Nkanyezi Ziqubu ran a time of 4:11.60 and freshman Yassine Rahoui made his season debut in the 1500m and ran a time of 4:27.37, sophomore Nkanyezi Ziqubu later returned to run in the men 5000m he ran a personal best time of 15:46.14.
The Mustangs will next compete in the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. The three-day meet will begin on Thursday.
