PANAMA CITY, Fla., November 19, 2022 – The Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball team dropped the final game of its trip to the Florida Panhandle to No. 7 Gulf Coast State College by a score of 88-56 Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs fall to 5-4 on the season, while the Commodores remain unbeaten at 7-0.
Naomi Barnwell led the Mustangs with 11 points on Saturday, adding seven rebounds and two assists. Paetynn Gray was next with eight points, blocking two shots in the game as well. Emma Wilson-Saltos pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go with five points and two blocks of her own. Tanae Arnold led the team with three assists.
The Mustangs take 10 days off now before getting back to work on Tuesday, Nov. 29, when they visit Hostos Community College in the Bronx. That game is set to tip off at 6 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 11 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
