PENSACOLA, Fla., November 18, 2022 – The Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball opened a challenging three-game trip down to Florida with a 74-60 defeat at the hands of Pensacola State College on Thursday. The Mustangs drop to 5-2 on the year with the loss, while the Pirates improve to 5-1.
Carlota Gomez-Alonso led the team with 12 points in the game. Olivia Medford was next with 11 pints, adding four rebounds. Helena Macuei totaled 10 poitns with five boards. Paetynn Gray contributed eight points and a team-high eight rebounds, as well as two blocked shots.
The Mustangs are back at it on Friday, Nov. 18, when they play their first of two games at Gulf Coast State College. Monroe takes on No. 2-ranked Northwest Florida State College on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. EST.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 11 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
