MIDDLETOWN, N.Y., January 18, 2022 – Five Mustangs scored in double figures as the Monroe College women's basketball team rolled to an 80-34 victory at Orange County Community College Tuesday evening in the Mustangs' first road contest of the 2022 calendar year. Monroe improves to 7-10 overall, while Orange drops to 2-6.
After a solid all-around performance in a big victory on Sunday, the Mustangs carried that momentum into a dominant win on the road over the Colts on Tuesday.
Olivia Medford led the Mustangs with 16 points in the victory.
Naomi Barnwell registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
Tanae Arnold picked up 14 points and a team-high seven steals in the game.
Daja Wentz tallied 13 points and led the team with four assists.
Aysia Pink hit a team-best three shot from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points.
The Mustangs will look to keep the energy going on Wednesday,. Jan. 19, when they visit ASA College at The Post in Brooklyn, N.Y. for Region 15 action. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
