WHAT'S AT STAKE?:
The winner of the Region X tournament will play the Region XXII runner-up in a best-of-three series on May 11-12 at Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C. for the District I Title. The winner of the District I Tournament will receive a bid to the National Championship Tournament at Canyons Complex in St. George, Utah, on May 22-25, 2019.

FAMILIAR FOES:
The Mustangs have the luxury of being familiar with many of their Region X Championship opponents this season. During the team's trip to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in March, Monroe took on their opening-round opponent USC Sumter three times, USC Salkehatchie twice, and host Spartanburg Methodist College two times.

The Mustangs went 2-1 against the Fire Ants of USC Sumter back in March. During a tough start to the week, the Mustangs dropped a 5-0 decision to USC Sumter. Later in the week, the Mustangs swept a doubleheader against the Fire Ants with a pair of 4-3 victories.

USC Salkehatchie got the better of the Mustangs in their doubleheader back on March 10. The Indians picked up a 9-6 win in Game 1 before holding off the Mustangs for a 3-2 win in Game 2.

The Mustangs capped off their week with a doubleheader sweep of Spartanburg Methodist on March 15. The Mustangs had their best performance of the opening week in Game 1, picking up a 7-1 victory over the Pioneers. They then capped off the South Carolina trip with a 10-5 win in Game 2, having won five of their last six games in Myrtle Beach.

LAST YEAR:
The Mustangs made their first appearance in the Region X Championship Tournament in 2018, the Mustangs' first postseason appearance as an NJCAA Division I program. The Mustangs opened the weekend with their first-ever postseason win, defeating Harford Community College, 6-0. The hometown teams then used their advantage to eliminate the Mustangs, as Monroe dropped its next two games to Spartanburg Methodist and USC Sumter, respectively. The Mustangs will look to use last year's experiences and familiarity with the other teams in the tournament to make history in 2019.
