LAKEWOOD, N.J., September 25, 2017 – The Monroe College junior varsity men's soccer team hit the road on Monday and came away with a 4-2 victory over the Georgian Court University junior varsity team. The Mustangs improve to 3-1 on the year with Monday's win.
Homayoun Alidad got the scoring started for the Mustangs off an assist from
Clyford Hypolite. Hypolite later scored one of his own off a feed from
Damoine Adlam. Alidad got on the board once again with what proved to be the game-winner after being set up by
Dominic Dixon.
Sergio Escribano capped off the scoring for the Mustangs with an assist going to Alidad.
Johan Bermeo got the start in net and produced a scoreless first half for the Mustangs.
Vaughn Lawrence took over for the final 45 minutes and allowed just a pair of goals, helping Monroe hang on for the win.
The Mustangs are set to play next on Wednesday, Oct. 4, when they take on the Army JV team in West Point, N.Y. The game is set to kick off at 4 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
