New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Monroe College Junior Varsity Basketball team opened its 2016-17 campaign with a 79-60 win over Herkimer Community College on November 5th. Five Mustangs cagers reached double figures in scoring.
 
Damont Kearse Jr. led the way for Monroe. The freshman guard finished with 20 points and added five assists and three steals. Other contributors include Kenwyn Christian (15 points, five rebounds) and Mario Hernandez (14 points and three steals). Ismeill Etienne was a force inside for the Mustangs. The center from the Bronx scored eight points, grabbed six rebounds, and blocked nine shots. Andre Morgan led the team with 11 rebounds.
 
The Monroe College Junior Varsity Basketball team will return to action in the Monroe College Tournament over the weekend.
