Newark, N.J. – The Monroe College junior varsity basketball team went 2-0 over the weekend scoring wins over Edison Job Corp and Standard of Excellence B Team. The Mustangs are now 3-1 on the season and have won three straight.
Monroe prevailed against Edison, 68-56. In the win, freshman
Antoine Lewis, of New Rochelle, led the way with 21 points and three rebounds.
Jason Barrera put up a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Azmi Abu-Ahmad put in 14 and
Justin Wilson finished with 13.
On Saturday, the Mustangs defeated the Standard of Excellence B Team, 76-62. Abu-Ahmad led the team with 25 points, Lewis scored 12 and Barrera finished with ten. Finally,
Ronald Chapman pumped in eight points and seven rebounds. The game slated for Sunday was cancelled.
The Monroe College junior varsity team returns to action on Saturday, November 21, when they compete in the Monroe Invitational. They are scheduled to face Navy Prep at 11:00 AM.
