NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Monroe University men's and women's cross-country team is set to begin its 2026 season at the Purchase Invitational in Purchase, N.Y. on Saturday.

"The upcoming season is one that our team is really excited about," head coach Shirvon Greene said. "We have an elite group of runners who are eager to compete, improve, and make their mark on our program. There is a lot of potential within this team, and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together this season."

On the men's side, sophomore Jazir Harris and junior Zachary Roome aim to guide the team this season. Fifth-year Jakob Gargar, Daniel El Lakkis and Jordan Emile round out the leadership team heading into the season.

The men's team welcomes seven freshmen to the team this year, all looking to make quick and positive impacts to round out the squad.

On the women's side, sophomores Anihra Wilkes, Brooke Sheppard, and Analissa Redmond take the leadership helm and look to push the rest of the team to have much success.

The women's team rounds out with nine freshmen on the team as they look to make an early impact and achieve new records.

Both teams will compete in five meets this season, which will all take place on the road, with the last meet taking place on October 17 at the St. Joseph's Invite.
