Bronx, N.Y.–Junior newcomer Zachary Roome and freshman Zineddine Ferrah of the Monroe University men's cross-country team highlighted a tremendous day of competition at the Queensborough Invite on a gloomy, rainy Sunday afternoon. Making his collegiate debut in his first 8K race of the season, Ferrah placed third overall with a time of 28:59.54.

Freshman Daniel El-Lakkis was next for the Mustangs, crossing the finish line with a time of 33:29.92. He was followed by sophomore Jazir Harris, who ran a season-best time of 33:50.52. Next was freshman Jordan Emile, who also clocked a personal-best time of 37:30.21. Romane Foster was the next finisher with a time of 41:08.01, and Colin Alexander rounded out the team with a time of 41:55.68.

"Today's course was very challenging; it was rainy and hilly. I am very proud of these guys who took on today's challenge," said head coach Shirvon Greene. "It was a tough terrain and one of the toughest courses we have run all season. They had to battle the rain and slick conditions, as well as the course itself. I am happy and proud of the determination, resilience, and grit they showed on the course. They showed up today, ready for the challenge. This is definitely a step in the right direction. As our team motto says, 'KEEP SHOWING UP,' and that's exactly what they did today."

Monroe's next race is scheduled for Saturday, October 17th, for the season finale at the St. Joseph Invite in Kings Park, NY.
