Stockton, N.J.–The Monroe University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the Osprey Open over the weekend hosted by Stockton University.
Three Mustangs took part in both the 100m and 200m sprints. Sophomore Brinel Thomas kicked off the day with an impressive outing in the 100m run. The second -year native of Grenada ran her first 100m race of the outdoor season in a time of 12.07, which is a personal best time for her. Freshman Keishwanna Phillip also ran her first 100m race of the season. The freshman from Grenada placed fourth overall in the event with a time of 12.21. Freshman Zanya Belfon also ran her first 100m race of the season. The freshman, also from Grenada, ran a time of 12.83 . The same three returned later to run the 200m. Thomas placed first overall with a season best of 25.59. Phillip placed second overall with a collegiate personal best time of 25.65 and Belfon placed ninth overall with a time of 27.39.
Two Mustangs ran in the 800m. Sophomore Tanesia Gardiner ran her first 800m race of the outdoor season. The Turks and Caicos native placed second overall with a time of 2:21.34. Freshman Analissa Redmond made her season debut this past weekend, in her first ever 800m race the Guyanese native ran a time of 2:26.15.
The Mustangs will next be in action at the Duke Invitational, slated for April 9th -11th.
