TUCSON, AZ. – The Monroe University softball team (15-15 overall) dropped a pair of games against Pima Community College by scores of 10-0 and 7-4 on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)
·     Pima took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning off an RBI single to left field.
·     Later in the inning, another RBI single scored their second run of the game to put Pima ahead 2-0.
·     Another RBI single and RBI double put Pima ahead 4-0 before a error at right field scoring in their fifth run of the game to take a 5-0 lead.
·     A two-RBI single closed the third inning, putting Pima ahead 8-0.
·     The Aztecs sealed the 10-0 victory in the fourth inning off a two-RBI double.
Game 2
· Pima opened game two with two runs in the bottom of the first inning off an RBI single to left field and a fielder's choice to give them a 2-0 lead.
·     In the bottom of the second inning, they added two more runs off an RBI triple and an RBI double to take a 4-0 lead.
·     In the top of the third inning, Richellys Rodriguez ripped a hard ground ball, scoring a run to cut the Pima lead to 4-1.
·     Then, in the top of the fifth inning, Gabriella Pugliese launched an RBI single to left field, scoring a run to narrow the Pima lead to 4-2.
·     Pugliese then stole home in the same inning the diminish the Pima lead to 4-3.
·     In the top of the sixth inning, Kerris Johnson reached on an error by the third baseman, which scored a run to tie the game at 4-4.
·     Then, in the bottom of the sixth inning, Pima would tack on two runs off a triple to take a 6-4 lead.
·     An RBI single later in the inning sealed the 7-4 victory for the Aztecs.Â
STATS AND NOTES
·     Pima leads the all-time series 2-0.
·     Pugliese led the Mustangs at the dish in game two, going 2-4 as she tallied one RBI.
·     Jaleila Aupont started in the circle in game one, going 3.0 innings, allowing three earned runs and tallying three strikeouts.
·     Sophia Davis started in game two going 2.1 innings, allowing four earned runs and walked two batters.
