Tampa, FL.– The Monroe University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the University of South Florida Alumni Invitational over the weekend . On day one, sophomore Kaliyah Jones opened up her outdoor campaign by running the 200m, she clocked an outdoor personal best time of 25.23 . On day two, she ran another personal best time but this time in the 100m, she ran a time of 12.63.
Three Mustangs competed in the 1500m and 400m combo. Sophomore Sarah-Lea Cohen had solid performances in the events she ran. Cohen ran a personal best time of 4:55.49 in the 1500m and narrowly missed national qualification for the event . Cohen returned later in the day to run the 400m which she ran a time of 58.25.
Freshman Brooke Sheppard also had a good day at the track , in her first collegiate 1500m race she ran a time of 5:02.81 and a personal time of 58.55 in the 400m . Sophomore Tanesia Gardiner also ran well in her events as well, in the 1500m Gardiner ran a time of 5:05.11 and 59.02 in the 400m .
The Mustangs will have a quick as they will be competing at the 2026 Raleigh Relays on Thursday March 26th.
