Mustangs Roll Past Prince George’s, Cruise to 110–47 Road Win

Largo, MD- Monroe University delivered one of its most dominant performances of the season Monday night, overwhelming Prince George's Community College 110-47 behind balanced scoring, relentless defense, and a fast-paced attack.

After a competitive opening quarter, the Mustangs seized control in the second period and never looked back. Monroe outscored Prince George's 33-17 in the second, then completely broke the game open with a 29-5 third quarter to put the contest out of reach.

Bre Jefferson led the charge with 19 points, attacking in transition and finishing at the rim while adding six steals on the defensive end. Angie Tirado knocked down four three-pointers on her way to 16 points, and Alex Stewart provided an instant spark off the bench with 14 points.

Kaylyn Lelie added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Hudson-style ball movement from the group resulted in 26 assists and five players with multiple helpers. Adela Cecunjanin chipped in nine points, all from beyond the arc, and the Mustangs' depth showed as the bench poured in 56 points.

Monroe's defense dictated the night, forcing 44 turnovers and converting them into 73 points. The Mustangs also dominated the glass with 46 rebounds and pushed the tempo for 22 fast-break points.

By the fourth quarter, the lead had ballooned past 30 and continued to grow, reaching as many as 63 points as Monroe shot over 46 percent from the field and buried 19 three-pointers.

The Mustangs improve to 14-6 on the season and carry strong momentum into their next matchup against Harford Community College.

The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
