Boston, MA – Freshman Shaquane Toussaint of the Monroe University Men's Indoor Track and Field team delivered an impact performance at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Saturday, earning his spot at the 2026 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Topeka, Kansas.
Toussaint was dominant in two events, highlighting a phenomenal day for the Mustangs. The first-year native of Grenada posted a time of 46.42 in the 400m, which not only won the event but also punched his ticket to nationals. His 400m mark stands as the fastest indoor time in Mustang history, setting a new school record and personal best, and currently ranks No. 1 in the NJCAA across all divisions.
He returned shortly after to compete in the 200m, clocking a blistering 21.00. The time secured another event win, shattered the previous school record, and became the fastest indoor mark in program history. It also marked a career best and ranks No. 1 nationally across all NJCAA divisions, capping an impressive day for the freshman.
Sophomore Modou Sanneh also turned in strong performances across multiple events. The second-year native of The Gambia ran a 46.58 in the 400m, finishing second overall while earning national qualification. His time set a new Gambian national record, ranks as the second-fastest indoor mark in Mustang history, stands as a personal best, and currently places him No. 3 in the NJCAA across all divisions.
Sanneh later competed in the 200m, finishing in 21.73, narrowly missing qualification by just thirteen hundredths of a second to close out another solid outing.
A trio of Mustangs competed in both the 800m and 1000m events. Freshman Yassine Rahoui recorded an indoor personal-best 1:56.66 in the 800m, finishing just fifteen hundredths of a second shy of the qualifying mark. He later posted a time of 2:52.11 in the 1000m.
Freshman Boitshepo Mashilo ran 1:59.37 in the 800m before returning to clock 2:33.12 in the 1000m. Sophomore Nkanyezi Ziqubu followed with a 2:00.25 in the 800m and later recorded a 2:36.39 in the 1000m.
