New Rochelle, NY - The Mustangs dropped their second match of the day on Friday, falling 3–1 to Finger Lakes Community College at the MAC.
Finger Lakes took control early, winning the first two sets 25–16 and 25–17 by capitalizing on offensive efficiency and steady pressure at the service line. Monroe responded with its best stretch of the match in the third set, posting a .300 hitting percentage and pulling out a 25–22 win to stay alive. Finger Lakes regrouped in the fourth set, closing the match with a 25–18 victory.
Yensy Rodriguez led the Mustangs offensively with 13 kills, while Cristian Nunez added seven kills on a .333 hitting clip. Hudson Irving directed the Monroe offense with 25 assists and chipped in three service aces. Defensively, Rodriguez finished with a team-high nine digs, and Chijiaku Ndukanma contributed at the net with a block assist.
Monroe finished with 31 kills as a team but was held to a .102 attack percentage, while Finger Lakes recorded 44 kills and pulled away behind balanced scoring across its lineup. The Mustangs now move to 0–2 on the season as they continue early-season play.

The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
