Hagerstown, MD – The Monroe University women's volleyball team continued to rack up the wins with a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-19) victory over Hagerstown Community College on Friday.
Monroe's fifth straight win came off the heels of three consecutive straight-set victories last week. In this matchup against the Hawks, it was freshman
Adriana Garcia who took her turn performing as the catalyst, registering a team-high 16 kills in the outing. Sophomore
Flavia Pecora followed suit with 12 kills on 17 attempts with zero errors.
Set one went the way of the Mustangs thanks to a late 6-0 run. Despite a slip up in set two, the Mustangs came back fiercely in set three thanks to 17-4 start. Set four again saw the Mustangs piece together a dominant stretch in the middle portion, helping lead them to victory.
Monroe kicked off its Maryland trip with a convincing win and plenty of milestone chasers.
Pecora's .706 kill percentage in the first of three games on the road this weekend continued a fantastic offensive efficiency trajectory for the second-year middle blocker. Following a .423 mark last season, Pecora maintains a .421 percentage in 2025, which would slot her in two of the top-five spots on the program's single season kill percentage leaderboard.
Additionally, sophomores
Mileyshka Melendez and
Emma Dedushaj remained consistent in their roles, with Melendez adding 35 assists and Dedushaj contributing 39 digs — both team-highs. Melendez now sits 253 assists behind third on the all-time leaderboard, while Dedushaj needs 89 digs to enter the top-five on the single season leaderboard.
The Mustangs will compete in a doubleheader on Saturday to close out their weekend in Maryland. First up is Anne Arundel Community College at 10:00 am before a matchup versus Howard Community College at noon. Both games will be played in Arnold, MD.
