LEXINGTON, Ky.–The Monroe University-New Rochelle women's volleyball team was selected as one of the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award and Team Academic Honor Roll recipients, as the association announced on Thursday afternoon.

 "I'm extremely proud of what this group has accomplished in the classroom," head coach Nephtali Delgado Reyes said. "Their ability to excel academically while competing at a high level speaks volumes about their character, discipline, and dedication to our program."

This distinguished award was given to 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams throughout the country who maintained a year-long grade point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. To be placed on the honor roll, the team had to represent the top 20% of GPAs nationally by division.

This is the Mustang's third straight distinction by the AVCA after earning a 3.75 grade-point average during the 2025-26 academic calendar. Five members of the team tallied a GPA of 4.0.

The Mustangs finished the 2025 season with a 35-8 record, which included a Region 19 Championship victory over Lackawanna College and a Mid-Atlantic District Championship victory over Montgomery College. The Mustangs eventually fell in straight sets to No. 7 Iowa Central CC in the third round of the NJCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament.
