Baltimore, MD – An all-around effort against #4-seed Allegany College of Maryland pushed the #1-seed Monroe University men's basketball team to the East District Tournament Championship Game. In the 96-59 victory, Monroe saw every player who touched the floor score.
Freshman
Jago Robinson led the team with 16 points on four made threes, while sophomore
Jordan Sanders also made four threes on the night for 12 points. Sophomore
Hassan Washington rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on a 4-for-6 clip.
It was as complete of a game the Mustangs have played all season as they looked cohesive in all facets of the game. The cohesion reflected nicely on the box score as Monroe racked up 26 assists on the night. Freshman
Faquir Mosley was the main facilitator, collecting nine assists.
A 45-23 halftime lead blossomed into an even bigger second half as the Mustangs scored 51 points. Robinson scored all his points over the final 20 minutes as the bench unit dominated Allegany's depleted roster.
Just 12 of the 51 second half points were scored by starters.
Monroe cruises past a team that knocked it out of postseason play last season and will take on its biggest rival in the championship game — #2-seed Harcum College.
The Bears and Mustangs split the season series, with the third and final meeting of the season being the one for all the marbles. The East District Championship Game is set for Saturday at 6:00 pm.

The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
