Catonsville, MD - The Mustangs put together a complete performance on Friday night, rolling past CCBC Catonsville 91–64 on the road to put them two wins over .500 on the year.
The Mustangs set the tone immediately, opening the game with pace and physicality on both ends of the floor. Monroe scored 30 points in the opening quarter, shooting efficiently while dominating the glass to take an early double-digit lead. Bre Jefferson sparked the offense early, while Adela Cecunjanin controlled the paint and cleaned up second-chance opportunities to keep CCBC from settling in.
Monroe continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, holding Catonsville to just eight points in the period. The Mustangs forced tough possessions defensively and turned stops into transition opportunities, extending the lead to 49-25 at halftime. Monroe's rebounding edge and balanced scoring allowed them to control the tempo and keep CCBC chasing.
The third quarter turned the game into a runaway. Monroe shot 50 percent from the floor and exploded for 23 points, pushing the lead as high as 30 midway through the period. Jefferson attacked downhill with confidence, Angie Tirado knocked down timely perimeter shots, and Cecunjanin continued to impose her will inside as Monroe fully seized control.
With the outcome well in hand, Monroe stayed disciplined in the fourth quarter, closing out the game with consistent execution and strong bench minutes. The Mustangs finished the night with 50 points in the paint and a commanding 61-37 advantage on the boards, underscoring their physical dominance throughout the contest.
Jefferson led all scorers with 21 points, adding five assists and four rebounds. Tirado followed with 15 points on four made three-pointers, while Cecunjanin posted a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Hellary De Los Santos added 10 points, and Monroe received valuable contributions across the lineup in a balanced offensive effort.
The win moves Monroe to 8-6 on the season and marked one of the team's most complete performances to date, combining defensive intensity, rebounding control, and offensive balance from start to finish.
