New Rochelle, NY – The Monroe University men's basketball team is set to begin its 2025-26 campaign on Sunday against Quincy College at 3:00 pm.
"We've had a solid month of October and we're definitely excited to build off last year's national tournament run and a very challenging first couple of games," head coach
Jeff Brustad said. "We are poised with some key returners and a bunch of talented newcomers. Mustang fans are in for an exciting season."
Monroe's five leading scorers from its 2024-25 national tournament run are gone, but the trio of
Faquir Mosley,
Riley Dunn and
Qingfang Pang are set to take big leaps this season.
Jago Robinson,
Kylian 't Hart and
David Emetu round out the returners, providing the Mustangs with stable continuity ahead of yet another difficult schedule.
Sophomore newcomers
Nick Williams and
Naceiar Kirksey are poised to play important roles on both ends of the court early on for the Mustangs. The seven remaining freshman round out a deep squad looking to replicate its success from the year prior.
The Mustangs will play two teams ranked in the top-10 of the NJCAA Division I preseason poll (No. 3 Dayton State College and No. 7 Northwest Florida State College) later this season plus a handful of challenging opponents in Arizona and Florida.
Ahead of them first are the Granite from Quincy, who fell to the Mustangs in last year's season opener, 78-58. The game can be streamed on the Monroe Mustangs YouTube channel.
